All learners go through this time in their life when they get their essays and precis writing tasks to complete. This isn’t a question, but there is a difference between students who handle their workload easily and those who struggle with it.

You cannot overlook precis writing task because it does not look complicated from the first glance. It may seem like something you can do quickly regardless of your experience and degree of knowledge about the subject under consideration. However, precis writing process is complicated and demands certain skills that you should possess before attempting to write one precis or essay.

Briefly speaking, precis writing decision significantly differs from other academic papers that require much more efforts to prepare them for submission or publication. In precis writing, you need to present your precis in the way that will attract an audience while retaining all essential information. It means it is very important to know precis writing rules and generally accepted precis writing style.

It may not seem like something complicated to write at first glance, but there are specific precis writing rules you should follow when composing any precis! First of all, you need to read the text at least twice. This step seems very obvious for experienced students who consider themselves good precis writers. However, many beginners forget this or do not have enough time for rereading because of other commitments they have with their academic tasks.

However, there are certain precis writing aspects all students need to know before attempting precis essay or any other academic paper!

Do not forget about the most crucial precis writing rules:

– Keep it brief and concise so your reader doesn’t become bored with your precis paper;

– Don’t include unnecessary information or details that don’t help advance your argument;

– Try to use active voice, as passive voice makes sentences wordy and harder to understand;

– Make sure you have a good English spelling because grammar mistakes can lead to negative perception of your precis paper;

– Use the direct quote only when it is crucial for your precis writing argument. You can also paraphrase what has been said in a text, but avoid plagiarism!
